Laura Cornhill
Creative Director
Laura partners with clients to articulate their business challenges – be they communication, perception or positioning – bringing clarity to the most complex of briefs. She has the vision and expertise to bring a fresh perspective and to develop design strategies which advance the creative direction of brands. She steers the team develop intelligent solutions which resonate with audiences and deliver tangible results.
Laura is committed to educating the next generation of designers, and gives back to the industry through speaking at industry events and participating on advisory panels. Her work has won numerous local and international awards, and she was nominated by Monash University’s ‘Affemation’ project as one of the 25 most influential women in Australian graphic design.
Susan Carew
Business Development & Strategy
Susan joined Studio Binocular in 2011, bringing a design background plus experience gained in Melbourne and London, across account planning, production and project management and business leadership.
In her role in Business Development and Strategy, Susan works on strategic planning for clients – ensuring the studio’s creative solutions are bang on their business objectives. Her experience enables her to balance empathy, practicality and optimism – and she is driven by the potential of design to bring about real world change. Her insights are focussed around our knowledge economy – working with universities, governments and industry leaders as they strive to innovate.
Richard Seyb
Design Director
As Design Director, Richard is responsible for strategic problem solving, design leadership and contributing his considerable insights to all briefs. Richard is comfortable working on a wide range of media – from traditional brand mediums, to complex executions in the digital realm, and he has helped to lead some of the studio’s major brand and digital projects.
Richard has a genuine passion and vision for creating stand out, market-leading brands – and his ambitious design approach balances sophistication with purpose, ensuring the best possible project outcomes. He also leads the design team in honing their technical skills, developing efficient ways of working across all channels.
Martine Smithies
Account Director
Martine is responsible for managing and overseeing projects from creative brief to final implementation, whilst ensuring that client briefs, timelines and budgets are met. She has managed creative and production teams to deliver integrated campaigns and major national rebrands, and brings a love of systems and processes to her role at Studio Binocular. Having worked across both agency and client marketing teams, Martine offers a holistic approach to her projects and clients, with a solid understanding on how to balance creative and production processes with client and stakeholder expectations.
Martine’s experience includes: Australian Super, Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP), Respect Victoria, Sustainability Victoria, IBAC, Little Group, University of Melbourne, Deakin University and the City of Melbourne.

Sarah Costanzo
Account Manager
Sarah’s friendly interpersonal style and excellent organisational skills enable her to manage projects of all sizes effectively and efficiently. Sarah’s industry experience includes the studio management of fast-paced agencies through to working customer service-side in international travel. Her ability to multi-task and oversee studio workflow is one of the many valuable attributes she brings to her role.
Sarah brings a keen interest in design, and is most comfortable liaising between clients, suppliers and designers. Her solution-focussed approach ensures projects of all sizes are scoped, quoted and briefed accurately and project timings achieved – supporting our clients with a truly responsive project management service.
Genevieve Lawlor
Account Manager
In her role as Account and Project Manager, Gen is responsible for building collaborative relationships with clients, managing and overseeing projects from creative brief to production and implementation and ensuring that client and stakeholder timelines, budgets and briefs are met.
Gen brings expertise in strategic planning, data analysis, campaign management, implementation and reporting which provides a strong foundation on which to deliver results for our clients which achieve their goals – whether they be targeted campaigns, B2B communications or high profile publication suites.
Comfortable working across both brand and design strategy, Gen’s project management background enables her to calmly guide complex projects through to successful completion.
Eliane Hockey
Designer
Eliane is the newest addition to the Studio Binocular team. She is a highly motivated designer with over 5 years of industry experience, which extends across brand, digital design, publication, print collateral and animation.
She is passionate about working closely with brands, problem solving and executing campaigns, and has applied these skills across a wide range of sectors including education, retail and business. Eliane has a particular interest in user experience design and applies these principles to all her work, creating user-centred designs that are inclusive and accessible for all.
Blake Fullwood
Designer
With a background in design for the community services sector, Blake joined us in 2018, and has since worked on projects for education, government, technology and innovation spaces.
Blake has helped design major infrastructure strategies, websites for research centres and brands for organisations addressing youth unemployment. He brings a fresh perspective to projects, and has developed an enviable ability to solve unique communication challenges in a thoughtful and nuanced manner. As a true digital native, Blake has a comprehensive understanding of the latest digital best practice, and contributes this expertise to all projects.
